Position Overview

The Assistant Controller is responsible for ensuring the accuracy of the Company’s global monthly consolidated results.  This will require overseeing our domestic and foreign accounting teams, as well as working constructively with other groups within the Company (including Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis, Treasury, & IT).  This individual will need to be a very strong leader with a proven record of delivering results in a dynamic, fast paced business environment. The Assistant Controller also develops and supervises a team of accountants and maintains a detailed knowledge of GAAP and credit agreement requirements.  This person will also lead various initiatives to improve processes and assist with the coordination of the annual audit, preparation of financial statements, and bank reporting.    

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own and manage monthly close process to ensure an accurate and timely close each month, including the review of the consolidation to ensure intercompany accounts are eliminated and all subsidiaries were accurately translated to the reporting currency
  • Perform a reliable and quality review of all work prepared by a staff or supervisor, including approval of journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Ability to research and conclude on the impact of changes in GAAP requirements on the company’s financial results
  • Ability to critically evaluate processes and procedures to identify areas of risk and/or process improvement and take action to address
  • Effectively manage staff, including providing constructive feedback in the review process
  • Develop general accounting policies and procedures and ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley
  • Work with technology partners to implement and enhance monthly financial reporting
  • Coordinate and respond to internal and external audit requests
  • Preparation of annual financial statements, including footnotes
  • Preparation of quarterly and annual lender reports
  • Assist with various ad-hoc projects as requested

Job Requirements:

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting and CPA with public accounting experience
  • 7 plus years of experience in accounting & reporting experience in consolidation and financial statement preparation required.
  • International Treasury experience is required.
  • Experience managing a team
  • Experience with revenue recognition including ASC 606 preferred
  • International statutory reporting experience preferred

 

Essential Functions

  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to effectively leverage systems and spreadsheet applications
  • Frequent computer use

**This role will be based out of our CHICAGO office, but given the current COVID-19 environment, all teams are working remotely until it is safe to return to the office. Candidate interactions and interviews will be 100% virtual due to COVID-19.**
