Job Description

The Chief Product Officer, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, will drive CareerBuilder's product vision and strategy, delivering against our company goals and objectives.  This role manages the product portfolio of the company and will lead and facilitate the creation of products that serve and deliver value to consumers, clients and the business during an exciting time in the industry. The role will oversee product management, user experience, and design, and will work closely with teams across the organization to execute a roadmap of product objectives and outcomes, manage the CareerBuilder suite of products, bring them to market, and enhance the customer experience. This leader will understand the business model, target pricing and competitor information to ensure the company provides a relevant and integrated product portfolio. The CPO will be critical in aligning the product portfolio to our overall business strategies to drive revenue growth.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • You will act as the primary vision partner with the CEO and COO to define and execute the overall product story, roadmap, experience and success milestones
  • Develop the department’s mission, strategy, annual goals and plans and create the business framework for innovation and revenue generation
  • Drive the definition, prioritization and execution of product strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders and business team executives
  • Evaluate product performance, identify risks and opportunities, prioritize high value products and optimize resource allocation across the product portfolio
  • Launch market-leading products and product enhancements that deliver significant value to consumers and customers, set operational and performance targets, and own their success against stated strategic goals
  • Partner with strong engineering and analytics counterparts, acting as a contributor and thought leader to drive the successful execution of the product vision
  • Coach, inspire and mentor a team of product managers and designers to develop a passionate and inspired customer-driven product culture
  • Own product results with P&L responsibility, including on-time release, usability, customer satisfaction and business critical metrics.
  • Install processes and best practices to create a world class product management and design organization
  • Be a strategic leader in how the company will deliver product: set the pace and principles for product managers, data, design and engineering surrounding product management and delivery
  • Be a key outspoken member of the senior leadership team, bringing the voice of product management and a strong customer-focused perspective to the executive table
  • Hire, develop, and coach the best product management and design organization with the support of the CEO and the rest of the C-suite
  • Assist the development organization in setting priorities and maximizing throughput
  • Be an advocate and represent the company to customers and industry
  • Own key metrics used to monitor product performance and measure the success of product enhancements and extensions. 
  • Help propose strategic partnerships

Job Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 12+ years of successful product management experience with 5+ years in leadership at the executive level
  • Bachelors degree
  • Deep understanding of SaaS models and consumer-focused products, preferably in the HR Technology space
  • Strong entrepreneurial drive either as a founder or product leader with experience in companies undergoing transformation
  • Demonstrated experience conceiving, crafting and implementing impactful and innovative product roadmaps
  • Track record of building strong product teams that achieve superior levels of performance
  • An ability to lead, influence, and work collaboratively across the organization
  • A passion for understanding consumer needs through user research and direct customer interaction and translating that into the product development process
  • A demonstrated ability to understand the ROI of various product opportunities and prioritize those that have the greatest impact on the business
  • Possess a data-driven yet creative mindset that is oriented towards solving problems
  • An ability to coach and mentor passionate product leaders within the product organization
  • A true leader who can balance creativity and innovation with the grit necessary to make it happen
  • Proven ability to lead product development from start to successful launch 

CareerBuilder employees are currently remote. We do have offices based in Chicago and Atlanta. When it is safe to return to the office, you will have the ability to continue to be remote or utilize the Chicago or Atlanta offices as determined by your manager.
