As a Content Manager on the CareerBuilder Global Communications team you will lead efforts to create the strategy, process, implementation and measurement of compelling, engaging multi-channel content that tells the story of how we Empower Employment.  The ideal candidate should have a background in editorial strategy and writing, in addition to possessing sharp editing skills with an understanding blog and content data and analytics. This person should have a blend of business acumen, including SEO, along with creative thinking and will be comfortable thinking big while also prioritizing business objectives and day to day tasks.

You will: 

  • Work with a team of content writers helping to determine areas of focus, prioritizing strategy and understanding cross functional needs
  • Create, edit and refresh content
  • Find the story in the data/numbers/technology/products
  • Create informative and educational thought leadership content with a storytelling approach
  • Produce content that is balanced between consumer and business needs
  • Be a trusted partner for the SEO team

This role is great for somebody who enjoys digging in, motivating team members and influencing strategy while taking overall marketing and brand objectives and tailoring them to fit the needs of unique and segmented audiences. 

We’re looking for a storyteller who understands the value of great content, product communications and overall marketing initiatives. You will have experience writing for a company blog and understand the importance of working with the SEO team to drive traffic through search. You love to try new things while understanding the basic rules and best practices of content marketing. You are a grammar nerd, know how to adapt your writing style for the targeted audience, prioritize details, active writing and word choice. You are flexible and creative, you take initiative and keep projects moving, and you can manage your time well. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Serve as content manager overseeing and contributing to the production of high-quality content for both the B2B and B2C audiences that is distributed across multiple channels, including blogs, newsletters, case studies, social media, PR/Comms and webinars
  • Brainstorm and pitch original content ideas aligned with our messaging, content strategy, product roadmap and CareerBuilder mission
  • Publish a balanced variety of timely, relevant messages to a multi-segmented audience of hiring managers, recruiters and employers as well as candidates and employees
  • Collaborate across the entire company to understand CareerBuilder tools, share insights from leaders and find success stories. 
  • Work closely with B2B and B2C marketing teams to identify proof points for use in campaigns, hosted content, on social media and in external messages 
  • Work daily with PR, social and creative services team members to build cohesive content strategy
  • Stick to and participate in editorial calendar that encompasses B2B, B2C and brand messaging 
  • Measure and analyze performance of data to identify opportunities for improvement and points of success
  • Create strategies that leverage other channels like social, PR/comms and influencers to maximize reach
  • Track and analyze key health metrics (e.g. traffic, engagement, conversions) and report on content performance and insights to key stakeholders
  • Drive change, growth and audience through content
  • Respond to new opportunities with speed, sophistication and optimal coordination. Know where to place bets; continually identify and evaluate new original content.
  • Establish best-in-class operations and infrastructure. Develop standards and processes for all aspects of content marketing

Job Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • 5+ years of content writing
    • In house experience preferred
  • 5+ Digital editorial and content marketing
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Proven track record of driving traffic
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in marketing 
  • Excellent people skills to interact with colleagues and cross-functional teams, as well as vendors and third parties
  • Able to adapt to changing priorities with ease and composure, while continuing to meet established deadlines
  • Experience with Google Analytics to track performance against goals, adapt and refine strategy, and enhance overall content
  • Demonstrable experience with and knowledge of SEO to fully optimize content
  • Proficient in MS office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience developing content strategy
  • Experience working with content management systems
  • Working knowledge of basic HTML and SEO
  • Process-driven and love finding new ways to innovate and streamline
  • A natural project manager and multitasker

CareerBuilder employees are currently remote. We do have offices based in Chicago and Atlanta. When it is safe to return to the office, you will have the ability to continue to be remote or utilize the Chicago or Atlanta offices as determined by your manager.
