We have an immediate opening for a self-motivated Data Scientist to join our Data Science R&D Team, working remotely. This position requires a curious mind, skills at improving products and processes using the latest advances in machine learning, natural language processing, and data mining. We are looking for someone to join our team to work on groundbreaking R&D projects, to leverage massive structured, unstructured, transactional, and real-time data sets from a variety of sources to power the data science platform at CareerBuilder using the latest tools in machine learning and big data. 

If you are a statistics, machine learning, or data mining whiz (a.k.a. data scientist) who is equally at home discussing insights with business owners, customers, researchers, or developers, and is willing to roll up your sleeves and do the hard work – we want to hear from you!  You will be working with a range of products and solutions in the recruitment domain for both job seekers and employers. You will understand user behavior and identify patterns influencing EOI, predict employee churn, project career progression, automate generating resume and job descriptions, and all the backend structures that power these features. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to present your research in academic and industry conferences on behalf of CareerBuilder. Your work will be observed by C-Level Executives, Senior Leaders, and others looking to discover drivers of performance across CareerBuilder.com’s most important product lines.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Understand the business goals and initiatives of the project and use the latest machine learning tools to produce fast prototypes to present to the leadership.
  • Use out-of-the-box methods to acquire data and build sustainable models in an iterative fashion to meet project goals.
  • Liaise with the Big Data team to design and execute replicable data acquisition and utilization processes. Acquiring, analyzing, cleaning, and structuring data is an essential part of your daily responsibilities.
  • Keep up with the latest advances in Machine Learning to identify appropriate techniques to analyze the data and apply appropriate tools to build models that satisfy business goals.
  • Collaborate with Application Development and Business Development teams to provide integration and implementation of the algorithms you have developed in the production environment.
  • At our Data Science R&D team, in addition to doing active research to produce tangible business goals, we also believe in furthering the state of the art of existing research by actively participating in and publishing our work at top academic and industry conferences.

 

 

Job Requirements:

 

  • Hands-on experience in applying the latest research in Machine Learning/Artificial Intelligence towards business solutions.
  • Knowledge of Natural Language Processing, Predictive Modeling, Text Mining, Recommender Systems.
  • Proficient in using deep learning techniques (LSTM, RNN, CNN, Reinforcement Learning, etc.) and building complex networks to solve challenges in text processing.
  • Expert in the use of libraries like Tensoflow, Keras, Pandas.
  • Expert in using a scripting language like Python/Scala/R.
  • Experience in working in cloud computing platforms like AWS and Big Data technologies such as SQL, Hadoop, Hive, Spark.
  • Strong collaboration skills and an excellent ability to understand and formulate problems and clearly communicate insights because of your extensive technical and business background.
  • Experience turning ideas into actionable insights. Able to persuade stakeholders and champion effective techniques through product development. We are looking for an eager learner and you should be able to communicate how you have demonstrated success at telling the story hidden within the data.
  • Publications in high-quality cited scientific journals and conferences/patents are a definite plus. Strong math skill is also a big plus.

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities

 

Education:

Ph.D. Degree desired, preferably in Computer Science or related field.

 

Minimum Years of Experience:

2+ years or new Ph.D. graduates with a track record of publications.

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent phone and computer use
  • Creating written communications
  • Able to sit/stand at a desk
  • Able to bend, sit, stand, lift boxes or equipment (between 0-15 lbs)
  • Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally

 

CareerBuilder employees are currently remote. We do have offices based in Chicago and Atlanta. When it is safe to return to the office, you will have the ability to continue to be remote or utilize the Chicago or Atlanta offices as determined by your manager.
