The candidate will be a member of the IT Infrastructure Engineering team responsible for all relevant server, storage, virtualization, and database services.  Will liaise between IT management, Networking, cloud services, sponsors, users, and other IT personnel to communicate issues regarding overall operations status and strategy. The expectation of tuning user devices to meet current best practices and security standards resulting in high functionality and performance while ensuring close to zero downtime.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Leverages best practices approach towards projects, implementations, and issue resolutions; ability to provide status updates and reports.
  • Responsible for Windows Server Active Directory management, Azure AD, SCCM management and package deployment, Microsoft Deployment Technology (MDT/OSD), Intune
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, particularly with implementing/troubleshooting Group Policy Objects (GPOs) and Group Policy Preferences (GPPs)
  • Application Deployment, SD, and Patch management
  • Application Packaging and Windows Application Migration
  • Responsible for all Windows server operating systems, security, and management tools.
  • Understanding of server builds in both physical and virtual hosting environments.
  • Work with other IT teams, R&D, and business users to support and manage server incidents and performance issues.
  • Maintain documentation for all supported environments.
  • Provide advanced technical support for escalated issues and work with vendors to resolve more complex issues.
  • Respond to Incident Management to identify root causes and strategic solutions to recurring problems.
  • Research and recommend new technologies, enhancements, and configuration changes to improve Azure AD, Active Directory, SCCM, Intune, package deployment, patching process, performance, and efficiency.
  • Develop relationships and periodically meet with IT Operations, R&D, Enterprise Software, and Business users to gain insight on requirements, needs, and experience.
  • Ensure the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
  • Participate in a global Network Operating Center (NOC) for alert management and response.
  • There may be a requirement to work outside normal office hours to undertake routine maintenance or resolve problems.
  • Takes responsibility for the documentation and execution of large-scale projects, actively participating in all phases of the project. Identifies, assesses, and manages risks to the success of the project.
  • Effectively estimates timescales and resource requirements for the successful delivery of the project(s) to agreed terms of reference.
  • Can clearly articulate complex technical solutions in simple business terms.
  • Depth in the understanding of multiple technologies and technical platforms
  • Strong analytical aptitude quickly understands new technologies and how they work.
  • Security: Stay abreast of company policies and industry best practices.

Job Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • At least 1-industry certifications (MCP, MCSE, CCNA, A+, Network Security, etc.)
  • Experience with Windows Active Directory and Group Policy Objects and Group Policy Preferences
  • In-depth knowledge of SCCM and package deployment technology
  • In-depth knowledge of deployment and maintenance of Windows, Linux, and custom appliances in the VMWare and Citrix virtual environments.
  • Proficiency with scripting languages (PowerShell, JavaScript, etc.) or .NET programming language.
  • Experience with endpoint encryption and anti-virus.
  • Knowledge of Virtualization: VMWare, Linux, Citrix XenDesktop, and XenApp
  • Security: Familiarity with CIS, NIST, and Data Privacy laws.
  • Understanding of managing Apple Devices via Jamf Pro / Casper Suite is a plus
  • Experience with Office365 platform (Teams, Office 365, SharePoint, OneDrive) Exchange PowerShell, a plus.
  • Understanding of basic networking
  • Monitoring Tools: LogicMonitor, Nexthink experience a plus.
  • Windows and ITIL Certifications are preferred.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have supervisory responsibilities

 

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science preferred or relevant experience in an Enterprise environment.

 

Minimum Years of Experience:

3-5 years of experience in Microsoft server support roles in a Windows environment

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent phone and computer use
  • Creating written communications
  • Able to sit/stand at a desk
  • Able to bend, sit, stand, lift boxes or equipment (between 0-15 lbs)
  • Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally

CareerBuilder employees are currently remote. We do have offices based in Chicago and Atlanta. When it is safe to return to the office, you will have the ability to continue to be remote or utilize the Chicago or Atlanta offices as determined by your manager.
