CareerBuilder is currently seeking a Senior Manager of External Communications to join our Marketing organization. As the Senior Manager, you will work closely with CareerBuilder’s CEO and executive team. This person will provide coordination, strategy and guidance in the development and coordination of all CEO presentations. This individual will be responsible for the strategy and execution of our external communications, including speaking engagements, executive communications, and public relations. This person will help differentiate CareerBuilder, promote the brand, and tell the Hello To Hire story, to help position CareerBuilder as the leader in HR tech.

 

The goal of this individual is to raise external awareness of CareerBuilder and its client work. The successful candidate will develop and lead communications programs that advance CareerBuilder’s brand positioning with current and potential clients, influencers in the industry, and key external stakeholders. This person thrives in a fast-faced environment and has an impeccable attention to detail, a strong executive presence, can work independently, and can manage multiple priorities simultaneously and effectively.

 

 

Responsibilities:  

 

  • Researching and writing a variety of deliverables in the voice of CEO and senior executives, including speeches, presentations and talking points for CEO and other senior executives for external audiences, public-facing op-eds, industry reports and correspondence, bringing impactful messaging about CareerBuilder to all audiences
  • Coordinates with team members across strategic communications functions and Creative Services to craft channel- and audience-appropriate communications and engaging complimentary visuals and ensure alignment of messages and process
  • Manage and execute Board communications in support of the CEO
  • Manage executive visibility opportunities and calendar for senior leadership’s executive visibility
  • Edit and proofread communications developed across CareerBuilder’s strategic communications function
  • Build relationships and partner with functional and business units, like legal and finance, to ensure approach and messaging supports the company's corporate strategy and pro-actively determine upcoming opportunities.
  • Research and monitor the market and competition for innovative new ideas and best practices. Define key performance indicators that determine success for each engagement, including digital and media analytics, audience/attendee engagement, etc.

 

 

Job Requirements:

Job Requirements:

  • BA degree or (or equivalent experience) in Journalism, Public Relations Marketing, Communications, or a related field.  
  • 5 – 8 years of experience in writing and editing, with an emphasis on presentations/speechwriting 
  • Previous direct support of C-suite clients.
  • Experience crafting presentations and talking points that are personally and professionally representative of the speaker and tailored to the specific audience
  • Competency/experience to generate creative concepts for visual/multimedia deliverables
  • Some experience in social media content creation and management desired 

 

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior writing skills 
  • Expert PowerPoint skills
  • Ability to create content that is adapted for the speaking style and voice of the executive 
  • The ability to synthesize information quickly, adapting material from various sources into a seamless product within a very short timeframe 
  • The ability to work independently and creatively with limited source material and minimal supervision.  
  • Excellent research skills
  • Flexibility, ingenuity, tact, attention to detail, a sense of humor, ability to work well under pressure and grit
  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator & Adobe Photoshop beneficial
