Summary of the Job:

The Payroll Manager is responsible for the day to day administration and direction of the company payroll department  for domestic and global operations.  This person must have strong Workday Payroll, ADP Streamline and ADP Smart Compliance experience in a sales driven culture/company. 

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Direct/manage/supervise associate’s administering the organization’s payroll
  • Develop and implement policies to ensure accurate and timely delivery of payroll
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations
  • Research payroll and tax-related problems and inquiries
  • Performs research on tax regulations on an ongoing basis and implement all tax law changes in accordance with governing laws and regulations
  • Prepare periodic headcount, rate/fringe reports and aid with the annual budget
  • Monitor compliance with SOX accounting policies and procedures
  • Oversee semi-monthly and monthly global payroll process and provide needed reports (review and audit for accuracy, authorization compliance and supporting documentation)
  • Collaborates with Finance, Tax, Accounting and Legal, as required, for all GL and financial accounting reporting
  • Works with Executive Leadership on confidential and specialized reporting and projects as requested
  • Reconcile, prepare, and distribute W2s
  • Work with benefit team on 401k reconciliation, Section 125 plans, wellness and cafeteria deductions
  • Perform ad-hoc reporting and coordinate the processing of all computer-generated reports
  • Through research and collaboration with external providers, drives continuous improvement in global payroll operations


Job Requirements:

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must have Multi-state experience with Workday or similar automated payroll vendor system
  • Must have minimum of 2 years of Multinational experience working with ADP systems in a 1,500+ employee company. ADP Smart Compliance experience a must
  • Must have 2 years minimum experience with domestic and international payroll laws and regulations
  • CPP a plus
  • Must have 2-3 years of supervisory experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related discipline, CPP or CPA preferred

Minimum Years of Experience:

Minimum 5 years of increasing responsibility with at least 3 years of experience working with ADP payroll

Physical Demands:

  • Frequent phone and computer use
  • Creating written communications
  • Able to sit/stand at a desk
  • Able to bend, sit, stand, lift boxes or equipment (between 0-15 lbs)
  • Able to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally

CareerBuilder employees are currently remote. We do have offices based in Chicago and Atlanta. When it is safe to return to the office, you will have the ability to continue to be remote or utilize the Chicago or Atlanta offices as determined by your manager.
