Position Overview

The customer experience is an integral part of the WORKTERRA organization. The EDI Analyst is responsible and dedicated to delivering a superior customer service experience as related to tools integrating data between clients, insurance carriers, payroll providers and WORKTERRA. 


As the primary point of contact for any data integration need, the Electronic Data Interface (EDI) Analyst will consistently deliver accurate, timely and succinct responses.  The EDI Analyst is responsible for the day-to-day coordination and management of ongoing client updates as they affect data integration needs ensuring the data is accepted and processed successfully.  The EDI Analyst reports directly to the EDI Manager.

WORKTERRA is looking for an Electronic Data Interface (EDI) Analyst with excellent interpersonal communication skills and a strong background in data integration management and build. The EDI Analyst will be relatable, affable, and dedicated to making the customers’ experience as positive as possible by delivering on their data integration needs.  


Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop strong relationships with clients, brokers, vendors, carriers and other team-members.
  • Analyze inbound customer data to determine the best way to integrate with WORKTERRA.
  • Develop tools to extract, transform, and load customer data.
  • Develop and document processes for loading customer data.
  • Validate the accuracy and completeness of all data imported into WORKTERRA.
  • Gather business requirements, perform analysis, and present findings to clients, insurance carriers, payroll providers and WORKTERRA.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for carrier or payroll providers to resolve issues related to EDI transactions.
  • Support the implementation and ongoing development and testing of electronic transactions.
  • Ability to remove client obstacles by suggesting configuration or process improvements.
  • Strong technical understanding of WORKTERRA site understanding the impacts of changes made within the system on downstream.
  • Ability to dissect inbound or outbound transaction discrepancies to allow closure.
  • Train Carriers and internal teams on the WORKTERRA BenAdmin product and process as it pertains to EDI.
  • Work closely with ancillary services when data integrations are needed.
  • Work efficiently by prioritizing workload to ensure timelines/deadlines are met and exceeded.

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • 1 or more years of software, data systems, HRIS, EDI or similar relevant experience
  • Successful experience managing a portfolio of customers consisting of companies with a high-level of complexity, focus and intensity
  • Experience with commonly used EDI concepts, best practices and procedures within the healthcare industry.
  • Experience with Quality Assurance concepts and test plan development
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new technologies/methodologies and apply them along with the ability retain a significant amount of information in a short period of time
  • Ability to coordinate activities with other functions
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication to interact effectively with both technical and non-technical users at all levels of the organization
  • Aptitude in using Microsoft programs including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks/priorities under pressure
  • Ability to deal with complaints and conflict resolutions in a professional and decisive manner
  • Ability to analyze source systems and translate into actionable steps to provide solutions

  • High School diploma or equivalent required


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with employee benefits admin systems
  • Experience with tool(s) used for online benefit enrollment
  • Analytical, creative and innovative approach to solving problems
  • Conceptual knowledge of working with Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) tools and processes
  • Knowledge of relational database concepts and dimensional data models
  • Knowledge of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Tools
  • Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server or Microsoft Access


Physical Requirements

  • Requires sitting for prolonged periods of time, talking and listening.
  • Frequent phone and computer use with noise medium to high noise activity in background
  • Must be able to use hands.
  • May be required to lift up to 10lbs occasionally, with occasional bending and reaching
  • Cubicle setting in large climate controlled room with telecommuting option available for those not within drivable distance to Pleasanton, CA office
