Job Summary:

The Instructional Designer is a member of the Operations Training and Development Team and supports Global Customer Care and Operations. The Instructional Designer provides training design, course development, occasional facilitation and additional learning and development assistance to Global Customer Care and Operations employees, while maintaining a consultative relationship with leadership. The designer will collaborate with internal clients to design, develop and deploy online, instructor-led and blended learning solutions that address identified needs and evaluates the results and impact on the business. This position will drive our training solutions forward through continued innovation, meeting assignment deadlines, and through projects with high visibility to senior leadership. Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Develop and build engaging, effective and interactive training solutions based on needs assessment and analysis.
  • Author and administer educational materials, such as eLearnings, product user guides, workbooks, videos, infographics, job-aids and websites.
  • Maintain and update the content for existing on-demand training programs.
  • Administration for training programs, including enrollment, email communication, reporting, and updates.
  • Administration of assigned training resources on internal platforms.
  • Lead discovery meetings with key stakeholders to confirm performance needs and translate those needs into concrete options for learning.
  • Form positive and productive partnerships with subject matter experts and transfer that knowledge into training materials.
  • Ensure the impact of learning solutions is measurable, linked to business goals and provides a return on investment.
  • Leverage authoring tools and any platforms and media that will improve the impact and usability of the target courses and across all content.
  • Partner with Training & Development Consultants to consult on the most effective structure for curriculum and determine an impactful training solution.
  • Consult other parts of the business to optimize their information, content and delivery for knowledge retention.
  • Proactively identify training opportunities for new deliverables to recommend improvements to the business.
  • Handle high priority training or design requests with tight deadlines.
  • Stay current on relevant instructional design and software industry trends.


Facilitation Responsibilities:

  • Primary responsibilities will not include facilitation but the instructional designer should be comfortable presenting information and facilitating 10% of the time, if needed.
  • Presentation and communication skills for distance learning hosted and facilitated via webinars.
  • Record facilitated trainings to share with other parts of the organization and to be reviewed after the live training

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instructional Design, Adult Education, Business, or a related field
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience with instructional design, eLearning, technical writing or related experience
  • Command of industry-leading eLearning authoring tools, including Captivate, Articulate and any other applicable program
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
  • Excellent consulting skills, (e.g., critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and influencing) 
  • Proven presentation, composition skills and facilitation skills
  • Proven organizational skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high priority projects
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage long-term and short-term timelines
  • Specific course development experience according to principles of adult learning

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Experience with LMS or CMS
  • Ability to work proficiently on a Mac
  • Web design and programming knowledge
  • Able to gather, process feedback and implement change quickly
  • Willingness to understand CareerBuilder’s business model and product suite
  • Proven leadership ability
  • Marketing or PR experience
  • Copy writing experience
