CareerBuilder is looking for someone passionate about transforming our two-way messaging and interaction experience between job seekers and employers. The Engagement Center Product Director will lead the product development of our marketplace messaging to allow job seekers and employers to communicate based on their preferences, across all communication channels including SMS, push notifications, email, and chat.  He or she represents the product team in the tactical development/delivery process, and ensures that the product functionality is created in the order and considering the perspective of the business, product and technical teams. The ideal candidate will have a user-first mindset and focus on what is possible vs. what is standard practice in the industry. They will have excellent product instincts, passion for great engagement and messaging experiences, a data-centric mindset, strong communication skills, and the willingness to do what it takes to transform messaging and communication within our marketplace. 


  • Launch new message center features; execute a product roadmap based on business vision, market trends, user feedback and business analytics, collaborating with internal stakeholders.
    • Manage full message center life cycle -- from experience definition to features released within the desktop, mobile web and mobile app across job seekers and employers; and product life-cycle optimization enhancements. 
    • Partner with delivery, technology and UX/UI teams to define realistic release schedules. 
    • Works with Functional product owners/core service areas to ensure they are aligned to engagement center team with clear and scalable requirements.
    • Hands on experience with A/B testing and tools, with a strong understanding of data driven decision making
    • Ongoing competitive analysis to ensure that we are providing top-tier products to our online consumers & employers
  • Own the relationship between product management and the sprint teams
    • Represent and share the product vision to the scrum teams
    • Lead the Functional Grooming of the user stories
    • Represent the product team in Sprint planning meetings, Technical Grooming, daily Scrum meeting, Sprint Retrospectives and Sprint Demos
    • Serve as focal point for any pre-sprint or in-sprint inquiries from the sprint team.
    • Execute the acceptance process for user stories
    • Lead resolution of issues impacting success of the current or future sprints
    • Own and manage app development backlogs within the agile delivery framework.
    • Create user stories/ product features; determine business value, priorities and MVP.
    • Support product build and provide acceptance for delivered product. 
  • Confirm that technical architecture and technical design aligns to the short-term and long-term product vision.
    • Inspire technical teams to innovate and create industry-leading solutions while balancing immediate product plans
    • Partner with the Platform teams to collate and maintain the technical requirements for the development 
    • Prioritize mix of minor necessary enhancements and new innovations/revenue/cost opportunities
    • Work with business teams to understand customer and job seeker needs. Develop the technology roadmap and drive the delivery of API and end-user functionality. 
  • Create and maintain the user story backlog partnering with other teams
    • Define and create the user story structure – themes, epics, etc.
    • Create user stories for the product functionality and desired customer experience
    • Prioritize user stories in the backlog
    • Coordinate with technical teams to finalize list of user stories for each sprint
  • Partner with UX
    • Coordinate with the UI design team to ensure consistency and alignment between design assets and user stories
    • Ensure that Product Sprints run one month in advance of Development Sprint for User Story Creation and Design work
  • Measurements
    • Hands on experience with A/B testing and tools, with a strong understanding of data driven decision making
    • Equal focus on performance measures such Conversion Rate, User Satisfaction and Engagement rates.
    • Provide sprint and backlog status to product management team leadership

Job Requirements:

  • 5+ years as a digital product owner; mobile app (iOS and Android) or mobile web experience required
  • 2+ years of experience managing/developing communication tooling to enable collaboration with users across multiple channels (SMS, feed, email,
  • Demonstrated business/product analytics experience on an Agile product team
  • Experience with Jira and Agile tools and writing user stories
  • Experience conveying concepts through visuals
