Position Overview

The Agile Program Manager focuses on Program Management Services for product and software development. He/she is responsible for overseeing day-to-day execution of initiatives as well as participating in short and long term planning for the customer outcomes under his/her program area. He/she has understanding, visibility and awareness of the life cycle of the outcomes to be to achieved and must have the background and expertise in R&D’s implementation methodologies.

Each Agile Program Manager is responsible for a specific set of customer outcomes.  Within these outcomes, the person in the role will need to influence a standard for effective planning & scoping, measurement & reporting and overall governance implementation to ensure our organization is capable of delivering on the right outcome at the right time with the right resources.

The Agile Program Manager is responsible for communicating program objectives, priorities, and direction to everyone involved in the program and for building and motivating the program teams. Through a partnership with R&D Leadership, the person in this role must communicate status, issues, risks, and actions within their program area as well as aid in major decisions about resources, goals, and standards.  The Agile Program Manager is also responsible for identifying, communicating and vocalizing process inefficiencies across teams in their program area.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Planning and Scoping
    • Ensure a common roadmap for the program area that aligns to the organization’s priorities
    • Influence clarity of scope for all initiatives
    • Influence organization focus vs. silo focus
  • Measurement & Reporting:
    • Measure progress of program area
    • Ensure work is tracked, analyzed and reported to stakeholders/partner groups
    • Ensure transparency into outcome achievements or slow downs
  • Governance Implementation:
    • Carry out the decision-making process for initiative prioritization and repeatable work cadence processes
  • Partnership:
    • Collaboration and guidance within program area leadership to influence priorities, scope and delivery timelines
  • Leadership:
    • Set goals, develop professional development plans and provide feedback and evaluations for direct reports when applicable

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or Computer Science or related discipline
  • 7+ years overall experienced required
  • 3+ years as Project Manager, Delivery Manager or related discipline in an Agile Environment required
  • Ability to work co-located with R&D team required
  • Current Scrum Master certification required
  • Pursing advanced Agile Project Management certifications preferred (CSP, ACP, SA or Scaled Agile)
  • Good communication ability, both verbally and written, at all levels
  • Good organizational and prioritizing skills with ability to multi-task
  • Strategic thinking required
  • Thought leadership a plus
