Position Summary

As a Solution Engineer, your mission is to serve as the principal consultative hub for deal pursuit within the organization, ensuring a unified approach for sales and account strategy that scales solution selling across our customer and prospect base.

 

You are responsible for managing the pre-sales scoping process of client solutions and partnering cross-functionally with key segments of the business as the point of entry and liaison for sales to guide deal development to the point of sale. 

 

You leverage your sales and technical skills to engage prospects and customers, understand and assess business requirements, develop a solution strategy and effectively prepare and demonstrate the impact of CareerBuilder’s products and services, while addressing technical questions that arise throughout the sales process.

 

You directly impact client retention and profitability by validating the feasibility and functionality of the proposed solution mix for the mutual benefit of both client and CareerBuilder, creating accountability across all parties for proper solution scoping.  You consistently exhibit thought leadership, domain knowledge and expertise in key industry and organizational areas.  As a result, you are highly visible across the organization and viewed as the solutions expert, able to clearly articulate the ROI our solutions provide.

Responsibilities

  • Work with sales and leadership to identify, qualify and prioritize coverage for business opportunities
  • Evaluate sales intake responses and make determination to launch cross-functional resource teams to ensure qualified deals have the proper deal development support and adhere to timeline and deliverables
  • Assist sales with account strategy and scope of solution set to ensure fit and feasibility; partner with sales to discover and analyze individual customer goals and challenges, mapping them back into the CareerBuilder solution portfolio
  • Serve as the pre-sales point of contact for determining complex client solutions as the product and technical subject matter expert
  • Design, present and educate customers on CareerBuilder’s solutions from both a technical and strategic business standpoint; effectively communicate benefits and ROI
  • Collaborate regularly with cross-functional teams to understand solution features, functionality, integrations and implementation processes
  • Work with product owners on custom development requests and partner to understand future roadmap
  • Think critically and identify technical issues or potential roadblocks with internal and client systems, escalating to the appropriate channels when applicable
  • Maintain clients’ and CareerBuilder’s best interest from a product functionality and revenue/profitability perspective
  • Demonstrate a high level of comfort and ability to consult, influence and mobilize all levels of internal and external stakeholders, providing ongoing strategic thought leadership
  • Promote solution selling enablement through ongoing activities; maintain a self-service model and knowledge share hub for sales tools and job aids, regularly evaluating and auditing to ensure they are keeping up with changes in the business

 

 

 

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 3+ years required in a client-facing setting; sales/systems engineering, technical/solution architecture, or relevant work experience
  • Proficient in MS Office, Salesforce.com and other internal systems/tools
  • Outstanding professional, sales, and technical capabilities; capable of supporting SMB and enterprise sales teams
  • Strong analytical, problem, solving and critical thinking skills, with demonstrated proven ability to be both strategic and tactical when presenting 'the big picture' – needs analysis, positioning, business justification, closing techniques – for both business-oriented solutions and advanced technical concepts
  • Strong relationship-building skills; consistently collaborates cross-functionally amongst different business units within the organization, bridging gaps and silos to ensure continuity and scale across initiatives
  • Proficient in all modes of communication: written, verbal and formal presentation, with the ability to explain the most basic capabilities to a business user or go a mile deep with technical customer resources
  • Proven ability to lead by influence, motivate action and communicate benefits/ROI across multiple levels of stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills; comfortable handling and coordinating multiple, simultaneous projects under deadline pressure while executing complex strategic and operational initiatives in a quality manner
  • High energy, autonomous self-starter who is focused, versatile, a team player and consistently demonstrates operational process automation and improvement
