CareerBuilder is looking for a passionate Interaction Designer who will be responsible for transforming, creating and driving engaging mobile app experiences. The Interaction Designer will serve as a cross-functional team member; working on information architecture, workflows, visual design, testing, and prototyping. This role helps nurture UX team members on projects, including project efficiency, stakeholder management and the application of insights. This interaction role will collaborate with representatives from multiple departments (Business, Product, & Engineering) to reach product alignment and support these various team to successfully execute on these aligned goals.

The Interaction Designer understands and can effectively communicate the value of experience design in business and the competitive advantage it can afford CareerBuilder’s products.

A successful candidate will present and discuss relevant work materials from their portfolio during the interview process.

What we’re looking for:


  • Conceive, develop, and present ideas that deliver the highest quality user experience in terms of innovation, simplicity and consistency.
  • Uncover user needs through research, develop deep insights, generate concepts, and craft how people will interact with the products we design.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, UX Strategist, User Research and customers to help define detailed product requirements as prototypes, descriptions, and detailed wireframes.
  • Communicate and present the designs and design ideas to stakeholders and developers as visualizations in a clear, well-documented form.
  • Further develop the designs and design materials in sufficient detail that they can be expressed as clear features suitable for implementation by software development teams.
  • Work with developers to ensure the designs are implemented as intended and the integrity of the user experience is maintained in the final product.
  • Continually incorporate feedback to improve the UI/X experience.
  • Produce superlative interaction designs from concept to execution in an agile product development environment.
  • Explain, discuss, and justify design decisions eloquently. Give effective feedback and direction to more junior members of the team.
  • Contribute to corporate UX guidelines, standards and patterns.
  • Complete projects unsupervised in a self-directed manner.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with user research methods and assist others with research.
  • Demonstrate mastery of core design tools.

Job Requirements:


  • 1-3 years of full-time experience as a UX/Interaction designer for mobile native app design (iOS and Android) and web-based products; in-house designer experience highly preferred
  • Understanding of areas of specialization within the greater design landscape, including but not limited to Design Research, Visual Design, and Content Design; willingness to broaden your own skillset into adjacent specializations while refining mastery of primary skillset
  • Contact with others (face-to-face, by telephone, virtual meetings, etc.) and working and interacting in a collaborative group or team
  • Practical experience of UX methodology and practices including user-centered design within an Agile work environment.
  • Must be self-motivated and self-managed.
  • Proficient in creating wireframes, UX design tools, and Ability to learn new software quickly (e.g., Sketch, Prototo.io, InVision, Axure, Adobe design tools, jira is a plus.)
  • A strong portfolio of work that demonstrate your design thinking, process, and solutions as it relates to web-based products and mobile applications
  • Bachelor's degree in human-computer interaction (HCI), Graphic Design, or related design discipline
